Stay and Eat
Britstown is situated midway between Cape Town and Johannesburg along the N12 and is therefore a popular overnight stop for those travelling between the two cities. There are a variety of accommodation options available including a hotel and bed-and-breakfast establishments.
The Transkaroo Lodge offers delicious home cooking with both a la carte and carvery options. Karoo lamb is almost always on the menu and the restaurant also has an extensive wine list. A wide variety of local produce can be purchased in the hotel dining room.
The Kambro Accommodation north of Britstown offers a variety of light meals in air-conditioned comfort and their homemade springbok, lamb and chicken pies are much in demand. Patrons can also purchase a variety of jams, chutneys, canned and dried fruit and home-made rusks and biscuits. For the more adventurous you can purchase frozen raw or cooked offal, lamb tails, baked quinces, stuffed leg and saddle of springbok together with a recipe, boerewors, Karoo lamb chops, homemade butter, kebabs and “skilpaadjies.”
